1. Select color of paper and fold it in half. (you can also layer it and use different colors)

2. Place your hand so that the thumb and pointer finger are overlapping the fold.

3. Trace around the hand, making sure to have the lines go to the edge of the fold for the thumb and pointer finger. (In other words, don't trace around the tips of those fingers!) This is what holds the hands together once they are cut out. 

4. Cut out the handprint (there should be two attached handprints when the paper is unfolded) being careful not to cut off the folded tips of the thumb and pointer finger. 

5. Unfold and wah-lah!

6. Write a cute little note expressing how much you love, adore and appreciate your mom. Be sure to spell all words correctly and handwriting should be neat.

I am noticing that a lot of you are getting the gist of fractions, but some of you are still a little confused. Watch the video on unit fractions. REMINDER: Keep in mind that the top number is called the NUMERATOR and the bottom number is called the DENOMINATOR. The NUMERATOR is typically smaller than the DENOMINATOR with proper fractions. We are only working with proper fractions. For example, if i have a circle and split it into 2 equal parts, with only 1 being shaded, then the unit fraction is written as 1/2 . IT IS NOT 2/1. Remember, the small number goes at the top (part of the whole) and the larger (total number of parts) goes at the bottom.

Hello 3rd Graders! We are now on letters "u" and "w". Please remember to view the videos first, practice each letter at a time, and create the letter exactly from the direction that is stated. Kudos to Jayla King and Sophia Naugles for practicing their letters everyday. Their cursive writing improves the more they practice!

You will write a narrative (story) involving kindness. You are free to create your own characters, setting and plot as long as "kindness" is at the center. Each day you will write 1 page (that's roughly 4 paragraphs) until you finish with the 3rd page. For example, on Wednesday, you will write 1 page, Thursday you will add the 2nd page, and on Friday will be the final page, to your ONE narrative on "kindness". You must be sure to use one magnificent vocabulary word for each paragraph. I uploaded 2 videos so that you can start using transitional words in your writing as well as use higher order vocabulary words. PLEASE VIEW THEM FIRST BEFORE STARTING WRITING :)

- You will compare how they are alike and how they are different

Write a 4 paragraph narrative essay about a girl or boy who could not attend school because there was a deadly plague (virus). Keep in mind that a narrative is a story and every story has a beginning, middle, and end. Every story has dialogue (characters speaking to each other) and be sure to include conflict (problem) and (resolution).

-Make sure you tell a seed story (bit by bit)
-Make sure you include lots of details
-Make sure your punctuation is correct
-Make sure you have quotations around the characters' talking
